The Lesson Yet Unlearned

Shredded bodies torn asunder,
Eyes glaze and then cease to feel,
In thousands souls flee the thunder,
Their trauma the Spirit to heal.

Mothers and lovers are shattered,
By painful and gut wrenching grief,
For sons and lovers lost to them,
By greed or misguided belief.

When old men manipulate young men,
It's the young who always are burned,
Make the old men lead in the battle,
Only then will the lesson be learned.
