A Chance Encounter with Wild Horses

The buckskin stallion stood his ground between his mares and me while they moved cautiously further away. They inhabit the vast unfenced Aboriginal lands some 150 km west of Alice Springs and where I came upon them at a water hole. (Four photos). This region of the Northern Territory is called the 'Red Centre' in the tourist brochures, but after rain it turns green almost as quickly as a traffic light. The brumbies appeared in good health and well fed from the flush of green grass.
